RPF SI Selection Process

The recruitment process for Sub-Inspector (Executive) involves 3 stages. Marks obtained in CBT are used for shortlisting to PET/PMT (10 times the vacancies).

Computer Based Test (CBT): Graduation Level. Total 120 Marks. This is the only stage where marks are counted for Merit.

PET & PMT: Physical Efficiency & Measurement Test. Qualifying in nature. No marks awarded.

Document Verification (DV) & Medical: Candidates qualifying PET/PMT are called for DV followed by Medical Exam (Category B-1).

Arithmetic (35 Marks)
  • Number System, Whole Numbers, Decimal & Fractions and relationship between numbers.
  • Fundamental arithmetical operations, Percentages, Ratio & Proportion, Averages.
  • Interest, Profit & Loss, Discount, Use of Tables & Graphs.
  • Mensuration, Time & Distance, etc.
General Intelligence & Reasoning (35 Marks)
  • Analogies, Similarities and Differences, Spatial Visualization, Spatial Orientation.
  • Problem Solving Analysis, Judgement, Decision Making.
  • Visual Memory, Discriminating observation, Relationship concepts.
  • Arithmetical Reasoning, Verbal & Figure classification, Arithmetic number series.
  • Non-verbal series, Coding and Decoding, Statement- Conclusion, Syllogistic reasoning, etc.
General Awareness (50 Marks)
  • Questions will be aimed at testing the candidates’ general awareness of the Environment around him/her and its application to society.
  • Knowledge of current Events and such matters of everyday observation and experience.
  • Indian History, Art and Culture, Geography, Economics, General Polity, Indian Constitution, Sports, General Science, etc.

अंकगणित (35 अंक)
  • संख्या प्रणाली, पूर्ण संख्याएं, दशमलव और भिन्न और संख्याओं के बीच संबंध।
  • मौलिक अंकगणितीय संचालन, प्रतिशत, अनुपात और समानुपात, औसत।

Passing PET is mandatory and it is qualifying in nature.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there negative marking in RPF SI Exam?
Yes, there is a negative marking of 1/3rd marks for every incorrect answer in the CBT exam. No marks deducted for unattempted questions.
What is the Medical Standard for RPF SI?
Candidates must qualify in Medical Category ‘B-1’ as per the Indian Railway Medical Manual. Glasses, flat foot, knock knee, colour blindness etc. are disqualifications.
What are the minimum qualifying marks?
The minimum percentage of marks for eligibility is: UR/EWS/OBC-NCL – 35%, SC/ST – 30%.
How many times are candidates called for PET/PMT?
Candidates to the extent of 10 times the number of vacancies in each category are shortlisted for PET/PMT based on CBT performance.
