RRB ALP Selection Process (5 Stages)

The recruitment process for Assistant Loco Pilot involves 5 mandatory stages. Qualifying each stage is essential to proceed to the next.

First Stage CBT (CBT-1): Screening test. Marks are NOT counted for final merit.

Second Stage CBT (CBT-2): Divided into Part A (70% Merit Weightage) and Part B (Qualifying Trade Test).

Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): Also known as Psycho Test. 30% Merit Weightage.

Document Verification (DV): Verification of Original ITI/Diploma/B.Tech certificates.

Medical Examination (ME): Strict A-1 Medical Standard (6/6 Vision) is mandatory.

CBAT (Psycho Test) Syllabus

Candidates qualifying Part A & B of CBT-2 will be called for the Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT). You must clear all 5 test batteries to qualify.

  • Memory Test: Testing your ability to remember maps, tracks, or figures.
  • Following Directions Test: Ability to follow specific instructions (Table Test/Watch Table).
  • Depth Perception Test: Brick Test (Counting hidden bricks).
  • Concentration Test: Yes/No test or finding ‘6’ or ‘9’.
  • Perceptual Speed Test: Similarity test (finding identical figures).

Note: Minimum T-Score of 42 is mandatory in each battery.

Medical Standard (A-1)

This is the most critical requirement. Failure in A-1 medicals leads to immediate disqualification, regardless of exam marks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there negative marking in RRB ALP CBT 1?
Yes, there is a negative marking of 1/3rd marks for each wrong answer in both CBT-1 and CBT-2.
What is the passing mark for CBT 2 Part B?
Part B is qualifying in nature. Candidates must secure a minimum of 35% marks irrespective of their category/community.
Does the final merit list include CBT 1 marks?
No, CBT-1 is only a screening test. The final merit is based on 70% weightage of CBT-2 Part A marks and 30% weightage of CBAT (Psycho Test) score.
