All posts under RRB JE notification fall under Level-6 of the 7th CPC. The Basic Pay is ₹35,400, with a gross salary ranging from ₹55,000 to ₹65,000 initially.

⚙️ Selection Process (Recruitment Stages)

Stage 1: CBT-1 (Screening Test)

90 Minutes, 100 Questions. Qualifying Nature. Marks are NOT added to final merit.

• Reasoning: 25 Q
• General Awareness: 15 Q
• General Science: 30 Q

Stage 2: CBT-2 (Merit Decider)

120 Minutes, 150 Questions. This score decides the final selection.
Technical Ability: 100 Q (Your Engineering Branch)
• General Awareness: 15 Q
• Physics & Chemistry: 15 Q
• Basics of Computers: 10 Q
• Environment: 10 Q

Stage 3: Document Verification (DV)

Based on CBT-2 performance, candidates are called for DV. You must produce original Diploma/Degree certificates.

Stage 4: Medical Examination

Strict medical checkup. A-3 standard (Distance vision 6/9) is required for most safety-category posts.

🏥 Medical Standards Explained

Candidates must pass the medical test conducted by Railway Hospitals. Glasses are permitted for certain categories, but LASIK is restricted for A-3.

⚠️ LASIK Surgery Warning: Candidates who have undergone LASIK surgery are UNFIT for posts requiring A-3 Medical Standard (e.g., Track Machine, P-Way).
  • A-3: Distance Vision: 6/9, 6/9 with or without glasses (Power of lenses not to exceed 2D).
  • B-1: Distance Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (Power not to exceed 4D).
  • B-2: Distance Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (Power not to exceed 4D).
  • C-1: Distance Vision: 6/12, 6/18 with or without glasses.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: Is B.Tech allowed for RRB JE? A: Yes. Candidates with a 3-year Diploma OR a 4-year B.Tech/BE degree in the relevant engineering discipline are eligible to apply.
Q: Is final year eligible to apply? A: No. Candidates must possess the final passing certificate/provisional certificate as of the closing date of the notification. Final year appearing candidates are not eligible.
Q: Is there negative marking in RRB JE? A: Yes. There is a negative marking of 1/3rd mark for every incorrect answer in both CBT-1 and CBT-2.
Q: Can I apply for multiple RRB Zones? A: No. You can apply to only ONE Railway Recruitment Board. Multiple applications will lead to rejection.
