RRB NTPC UG Selection Process

The recruitment process for Under Graduate posts (Level 2 & 3) involves 4 distinct stages. Merit is based solely on CBT-2 performance.

1st Stage CBT: Screening test (100 Marks). Marks are normalized but NOT added to final merit.

2nd Stage CBT: Merit-determining exam (120 Marks). Candidates shortlisted 15 times the vacancies.

Typing Skill Test (CBTST): Qualifying nature. Required for Junior Clerk, Accounts Clerk & Time Keeper. Not for Train Clerk/Ticket Clerk.

Document Verification (DV) & Medical: Final verification based on CBT-2 merit & Skill Test status.

  • अनुपात एवं समानुपात, प्रतिशत, क्षेत्रमिति, समय तथा कार्य।

Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST)

For Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist & Junior Time Keeper, a typing test is mandatory. It is qualifying in nature.

  • English Typing Speed: 30 Words Per Minute (WPM).
  • Hindi Typing Speed: 25 Words Per Minute (WPM). Fonts available: Kruti Dev and Mangal.
  • Tools: Editing tools and Spell Check facility will be DISABLED.
  • Selection Ratio: Candidates equal to 8 times the vacancies will be called for the skill test.
  • Exemption: PwBD candidates (Blindness/Low Vision/Cerebral Palsy/Locomotor Disability >40%) can seek exemption by uploading a medical certificate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there negative marking in NTPC UG exam?
Yes, there is a negative marking of 1/3rd marks for every incorrect answer in both CBT-1 and CBT-2.
What are the minimum qualifying marks?
The minimum percentage of marks for eligibility is: UR-40%, EWS-40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST-25%.
Are CBT-1 marks added to the final merit list?
No, CBT-1 is only a screening test. The final merit list is based on the marks obtained in CBT-2 only.
Which posts do not require a Typing Test?
Posts like Trains Clerk and Commercial cum Ticket Clerk do not require a typing test. Selection is based on CBT-2 marks followed by DV.
