RRB Section Controller Selection Process

The recruitment process for Section Controller involves 4 stages. Merit is based on CBT (70%) and CBAT (30%).

This section has the highest weightage (60 Marks).

  • Mathematics: Number System, Ratio & Proportions, Averages, Percentages, Profit, Loss & Discounts.
  • Time, Speed, Distance, Power & Work, Algebra, Linear Equations.
  • Arithmetic Progression (AP), LCM, HCF, Geometry, Area & Volumes.
  • Probability and Statistics (Basic Level).
  • Data Analysis & Interpretation: Multi-source Data Analysis, Tabular data, Charts, Graphs, Scatter plot, Pie chart, Venn Diagrams.
  • Data Sufficiency, Data Arrangement.
2. Logical Capability (20 Qs)
  • Logical Reasoning: Binary Logic, Syllogism, Clocks & Calendars.
  • Assumptions, Blood Relations, Family Tree, Solving logic-based puzzles.
  • Reading Comprehension: Passages from History, Society, Literature, Science, Environment, Mythology, Technology.

Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

Candidates equal to 8 times the vacancies will be shortlisted for CBAT. Minimum T-Score of 42 in each test battery is mandatory.

  • Qualifying Marks: Minimum T-Score of 42 in each battery separately. No relaxation for SC/ST/OBC.
  • Language: Questions will be in English and Hindi only.
  • Negative Marking: There is NO negative marking in CBAT.
  • Vision Certificate: Must produce original Vision Certificate (Annexure VI) during CBAT.

Preparation Strategy: How to Score High?

  • Focus on Data Interpretation: Since Analytical Capability has 60% weightage, practice DI (Charts, Graphs) extensively.
  • Reading Comprehension: Dedicate 30 mins daily to reading editorials to tackle the RC section in Logical Capability.
  • Mock Tests: Since the duration is 120 minutes for 100 questions, time management is crucial. Practice full-length mocks.
