With the modification of keys and deletion of questions, many candidates find it difficult to calculate their estimated scores. As a mentor for Railway Recruitment, here is a simple guide to help you calculate your provisional score based on standard Railway marking schemes.
1. Dealing with Deleted Questions (Level 2): When a question is “Deleted” or “Dropped” by the RRB/RRC, it is usually removed from the total evaluation.
- Example: If the paper had 100 questions and 2 were deleted, your evaluation will be done out of 98 questions. Alternatively, in some cases, the total marks are prorated to 100, but the primary method is ignoring the question for all candidates.
2. Standard Negative Marking: Railways strictly follow a 1/3rd Negative Marking policy.
- Correct Answer: +1 Mark
- Incorrect Answer: -0.33 Marks (1/3rd deducted)
- Unattempted: 0 Marks
3. The Formula: Use this formula to check your raw score before the final Results are declared:
Total Score = (Number of Right Answers × 1) – (Number of Wrong Answers × 1/3)
Note: For the Level-2 paper, do not count Question No. 3 and 30 in your “Total Attempted” or “Total Wrong” list. Simply remove them from the equation.
