📉 Understanding the Normalization Process

For candidates wondering how these final scores are calculated, the RRB uses a Normalization Process for examinations conducted in multiple shifts.

  • Why is it used? Since exams are held over several days with different question papers, the difficulty level may vary slightly. Normalization ensures a level playing field for all candidates.
  • The Formula: RRB typically uses a standard deviation method that takes into account the average score of the top 0.1% of candidates in all shifts versus your specific shift.
  • Final Merit: The marks you see in the cut-off table are the Normalized Marks, not your raw score. These scores determine your final ranking and selection for the panel.
