📊 Understanding the Normalization Process

Since the CBT for Railway Exams is often conducted in multiple shifts with different question papers, the raw marks obtained by candidates are subject to Normalization.

Key Points on Normalization:

  • Objective: To equalize the variation in difficulty levels of question papers across different shifts.
  • Method: RRB uses a standard mathematical formula to calculate the “Normalized Marks.”
  • Merit Determination: The shortlisting for the Translation Test/Skill Test and subsequent Document Verification is based strictly on these normalized marks (or raw marks if single shift) and the merit position.

The cut-off marks mentioned (e.g., 64.64646) reflect these calculated scores out of 100.
