RRB Group D Selection Process
The recruitment process for Level 1 (Group D) posts consists of four stages. You must qualify each stage to move to the next.
Computer Based Test (CBT): Online objective exam (100 Marks). Marks obtained here decide the merit.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Qualifying in nature. Based on weight carrying and running.
Document Verification (DV): Verification of original certificates (10th, ITI, Caste, etc.).
Medical Examination (ME): Check for medical fitness, especially vision standards (A2, B1, etc.).
RRB Group D Exam Pattern 2025
The CBT consists of 100 objective-type questions to be completed in 90 minutes. There is a negative marking of 1/3rd for every wrong answer.

🧮 Mathematics Syllabus
- Number System: BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion.
- Arithmetic: Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET) Criteria
Candidates passing the CBT must clear the PET, which is qualifying in nature.
🏃 For Male Candidates
- Lift and carry 35 Kg for 100 meters in 2 minutes without putting it down.
- Run 1000 meters in 4 minutes and 15 seconds (one chance).
🏃♀️ For Female Candidates
- Lift and carry 20 Kg for 100 meters in 2 minutes without putting it down.
- Run 1000 meters in 5 minutes and 40 seconds (one chance).
Preparation Strategy: How to Score 80+?
- Science is Key: With 25 marks, Science is the game changer. Stick strictly to NCERT Books of Class 9 and 10. Do not skip numericals in Physics.
- Reasoning Speed: Reasoning (30 marks) is the highest weightage section. Practice 1 hour daily to improve speed in coding-decoding and series.
- Mock Tests: Attempt at least one full-length mock test every week. Analyze your weak areas.
- Previous Year Papers: Solve past years’ papers to understand the difficulty level and repeating patterns.
