- North Central Railway (NCR): A total of 215 candidates have been empanelled under Category-1 for NCR.

What Happens Next? Appointment Process
Now that the panel is released, the names of the shortlisted candidates are being forwarded to the Principal Chief Personnel Officer (PCPO) of the respective zones:
- For NCR: Subedarganj, Prayagraj.
- For NR: Baroda House, New Delhi.
The respective Zonal Railways will now undertake the final verification of original certificates (Educational, Technical, Date of Birth, Caste, etc.) and character antecedents. Appointment letters will be issued individually by the North Central Railway and Northern Railway administrations only after this due diligence is complete.

Merit Determination & Normalization Process
Understanding how the final merit was decided is crucial for candidates who may have missed the cut-off by a narrow margin.
- Merit Basis: The final panel is prepared based on the normalized marks obtained in the 2nd Stage CBT (Part A) and the scores from the Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), subject to qualifying in Part B of CBT-2.
- Tie-Breaking Rule: As per the official notice, in cases where two or more candidates secure the same marks, the merit position is determined by Age Criteria—the older candidate is placed higher in merit. If the age is also identical, the alphabetical order (A to Z) of the candidate’s name is used to break the tie.
