Railway Mathematics Quiz

🔢 Railway Mathematics Quiz — Free Bilingual Maths Practice for All Railway Exams

Mathematics is the make-or-break section in railway recruitment CBTs. RRB NTPC, Group D, JE, Technician, and ALP all dedicate 25–30% of marks to Maths, and the cutoff for confirmed selection runs much higher than the qualifying mark — meaning every extra correct math answer matters. This page lists pure subject practice covering Number System, Simplification, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion, Profit & Loss, SI & CI, Time-Speed-Distance, Time & Work, Mensuration, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Statistics.

Every quiz is 10 questions in 10 minutes — the exact pace required in the exam (≈ 1 minute/question with buffer). Bilingual question display means no mental translation overhead. Detailed step-by-step solutions appear after submission so you understand how to solve, not just the answer.

Frequently asked questions

Which math topics carry the most marks in railway CBTs?

High-frequency topics: Simplification, Percentage, Ratio, Profit/Loss, SI/CI, Time-Speed-Distance, Time-Work, and Mensuration. Together these account for 60–70% of math questions. Master these first; algebra and geometry are typically 20–25% combined.

What is the difficulty level — 10th class or higher?

Railway CBT maths is class 10 NCERT level for Group D, and class 10–12 for NTPC Graduate / JE. Concepts are not advanced, but the speed required is. You need to apply formulas in 30–60 seconds, not derive them.

How do I improve my speed in math?

Three things: memorise tables up to 30, fraction-to-percentage conversions (1/8 = 12.5%, 5/8 = 62.5% etc.), and squares up to 30. These shortcuts replace 60% of multi-step calculations. Then practise with a timer — speed comes from pattern recognition, not "trying harder".

Are calculations done in head or can I use rough work?

Railway CBTs allow rough sheets but no calculator. You should aim to solve 60% of questions in head and use rough work only for multi-step problems. Speed of head-math is the biggest single advantage.
